The program

Shim is software that small service businesses use to run their work. When you hire a service business that uses Shim, the business can send you transactional text messages through Shim about the service you requested: estimates ready to review, invoices, appointment confirmations and reminders, and arrival times. Each text begins with the business’s name and comes from Shim’s toll-free number.

These texts are about your service only. Shim does not send marketing or promotional texts.

Sample first text:
“Highland Handyman Services sent you an estimate. Review and accept it here: https://app.shim-app.com/… Questions? Call (970) 555-0100. This number doesn’t take replies. Reply STOP to opt out.”

How you opt in

You give your mobile phone number to the service business when you request service, and the business records it in Shim.

Before Shim sends any texts for a business, the business confirms in Shim, once, that “My clients give me their phone numbers when they request service, for messages about that service.” Shim records who at the business confirmed and when, and sends no texts for a business that has not confirmed.

The first text Shim sends to a new phone number ends with “Reply STOP to opt out.”

Consent to receive texts is not a condition of purchasing any service.

Message frequency

Message frequency varies. It depends on how many estimates, invoices, and appointments you have with the business.

Costs

Message and data rates may apply.

Opting out and getting help

Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.

Carriers

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.
